A Funeral for Digital Data?

ArtVerona Fair (14-16 Oct 2022) Onomatopee has been invited by Italian curator Ginevra Bria - together with other six European independent publishers - to realize an unedited project challenging the third dimension of a fair booth. The work will be exhibited in the Pages section at ArtVerona Fair. A Funeral for Digital Data? To think of a “Funeral for Digital Data”, Ginevra critically attempts to restore and re- enchant our relationship with the internet and technology, while at the same time unpacking still not enough addressed urgent topics, such as loss and grief in the digital age. By generating new hybrid rituals of resilience, all critically inspired by the rediscovery of magic and spirituality, her work generously offers alternative ways to re-shape how the digital and physical realm can inform and influence each other, and what a practice of digital care could look like. Finally, her work, nourished by a cyber- feminist perspective, represents a sensitive yet deeply research-based example on how to address one of the most relevant issues of our contemporary era, and how to offer an animistic, restorative alternative.
